First day

Visit of the cultural and artistic places of Tonnerre: Meeting between old heritage and contemporary art discover the Hospital of Thunder with its five spaces of visit and exhibition: the Room of the Patients, the Pharmacy, the Cellar, the hospital museum and the Marguerite garden of Burgundy.

Hôtel Cœurderoy and the Media Library also offer temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Traditional local cooking Eric & Isabelle offer menus of flavors and characters. Your Burgundy plates are waiting for you!

Chevalier d’Éon museum at Tonnerre: The Hôtel du Chevalier d’Éon is a museum dedicated to Louis XV’s spy in Tonnerre. Man or woman, this atypical character was native of Tonnerre and is even the origin of the success of his vineyard! Discover his story accompanied by a fan who will tell you the greatest adventures of the knight.

Oh temps pour moi: Take a creative break at the “Oh Temps Pour Moi” shop! Participate in workshops for children and adults or buy your little equipment for your homemade creations.

 

Le L’œil galery at Tanlay: At the doors of the Renaissance castle let yourself be amazed by this contemporary art gallery freely accessible. A nice surprise in this village Bourguignon. Exhibition open from Easter to All Saints’ Day from Wednesday to Sunday. All season enjoy the permanent exhibition that offers several themes! (On reservation).

Visit of Quincy Abbey (open in July and August): Daughter of Pontigny founded in 1133 in a valley removed from Tonnerrois, the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Quincy and its valley has kept all its authenticity: the hostellerie, part of the cloister buildings of the twelfth and fifteenth centuries, the Renaissance abbey home, testify to the sobriety and rigor of Cistercian art.

This charming bistro welcomes you around a local meal, accompanied by the best wines of the region. Dishes of the day and pastries “homemade”, aperitif dinner … You can enjoy their terrace and some concerts organized on summer evenings. Also book their bed and breakfast for rest for one night or more …

Second day

Forest of Green Giants: The Forest of Green Giants is located in Argentenay’s public forest and is the creation of land artist Alain Bresson. His monumental plant sculptures are displayed in the forest, made to be seen and enjoyed by everyone. These living sculptures, designed to evolve with the seasons, invite visitors to explore nature with a poetic eye and a touch of humour and to reflect on the future and forest protection. The visit takes an hour or more and is a time for dreaming…

Visit at Ancy le Franc castle: This stunning Renaissance palace is a masterpiece of Serlio, Italian architect for King Francis I of France. It was built in the middle of an enormous park for Antoine III of Clermont, brother-in-law of Diane de Poitiers who was the mistress of King Henry II of France. Home to one of the largest collections of 16thand 17thcentury murals preserved in France today, the castle of Ancy-le-Franc rivals the Palace of Fontainebleau. Explore the richly decorated apartments and the majestic courtyard, as well as the French and English gardens whose two new flowerbed displays won the Victoires du Paysage award in 2018. Many tour options, events and exhibitions are organized throughout the season for the whole family.

Summer bistro in the grounds of the Moulin Neuf at the edge of the Canal de Bourgogne in Ancy-Le-Franc, with billiards, table football, darts, but also farm animals and seasonal entertainment! Taste local produce and home-made cuisine in an idyllic setting between the canal and Armançon.

Visit the Museum of Faience: Witness a part of the history of the castle Ancy-Le-Franc by visiting the Museum of Faience. A faience factory that once existed next to the castle. From 1992 to 1993 archaeological excavations were carried out on the site of this manufacture. A conserved part of the factory has been rehabilitated as a museum and five rooms retrace the history of ancient faience found the first room being devoted to the manufacture of biscuits.

Burgundy Art Gallery at Ravières (open from 15h to 19h the WE): Meet and discuss with the artists of our region who contribute to the enhancement of the cultural heritage of our territory. Placed under the sign of the tolerance this associative gallery proposes to you to taste the cultural joys in all its forms. Different themes are discussed according to the periods of the year.
